LPN to RN Bridge Programs near Dallas, Texas

Many Dallas licensed practical nurses (LPNs) choose to continue their education and become registered nurses (RNs). Along with an increase in responsibility, RNs earn considerably more than LPNs. According to the 2008 U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, an RN's salary outpaces an LPN's, with median earnings of $62,450 and $39,030 respectively. In Texas, LPNs must complete an LPN to RN bridge program to become a RN. Often, nursing programs offer LPNs advanced standing for their prior nursing education.

El Centro College is a state-run, public community college that provides students with both associate and vocational degrees. El Centro's LVN/RN Advanced Placement Option gives current LPNs the choice to complete a bridge course, which enables LPNs to begin the RN program in the third semester of study. With just two semesters remaining, students in the LVN/RN Advanced Placement Option graduate with an associate's degree in nursing (ADN).
