An LPN to RN bridge program is a degree program specially designed for licensed practical nurses wishing to advance their careers in nursing and become registered nurses (RNs). These accelerated programs are usually a year to a year and a half long and bypass classes in areas of nursing that LPNs already know about. MCC's LPN to RN program is fully accredited and is designed for LPNs to complete in two semesters, not including any necessary prerequisites. During the course of this program, participants travel to Las Vegas for internships and clinicals for real-life experience. Classes include Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology and nursing classes including nutrition, pharmacology, and psychosocial nursing. Students can attend full-time or part-time and can expect to complete the program in one to two years depending on the type of schedule. Classes include Nursing Theory and Science, Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Chemistry, and a nursing internship/clinical. Students must complete 72 credit hours to graduate.

    • University of Phoenix is a private university that offers classes both online or at its more than 200 campuses nationwide. The university's LPN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Students can complete most of the classes online, but most need to complete an in-person internship. Sample classes include Physical Assessment, Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, Care of the Pediatric Client, Dimensions of Community Nursing Practice and Theoretical Bases for Nursing Practice.
