BSN Bridge Programs

Students seeking a career in the health care industry can take the national certification exam to become a registered nurse after obtaining a diploma or associate's degree in nursing. Registered nurses who are seeking to further their education have the option of enrolling in a bridge program; upon completion of this program, registered nurses receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN). These bridge programs are available throughout the United States.

    • Southern Connecticut State University offers a BSN bridge program that prepares students for the Master of Science degree program in Nursing. This program offers an option for students to enroll in some classes online as well as an option to take achievement testing to fulfill coursework requirements. The program curriculum includes Theoretical Foundations of Professional Nursing, Gerontological Nursing, Evidence Based Nursing Interventions, Community Health Nursing, Leadership and Management in Nursing, and Adult Response to Complex Stressors.

    Herzing University Online

    • Herzing University Online offers a web-based RN to BSN bridge program for working registered nurses. The curriculum prepares nurses for entry into graduate-level nursing programs and to advance in their careers. Coursework includes Professional Role Transition, Legal and Ethical Issues in Nursing, Health Assessment and Promotion Across Lifespan, Nursing Informatics, National and Global Health and Policy Issues, and Nursing Leadership and Management.

    University of North Florida

    • The University of North Florida offers an RN to BSN bridge program with campus or online options. Students who complete the program on campus can enroll and begin in either the spring or the summer and complete the entire program in three semesters. Students who enroll in the online program can also complete the program in three semesters and will only be required to attend campus orientation and a one-week trip to Camp Boggy Creek, located in Eustis, Florida, in the final semester. Coursework includes Family and Community Assessment, Transition Concepts and Practice, Nursing Science, Leadership and Management in Nursing, Applied Nursing Ethics, and Community Nursing Partnerships and Practice.
