LVN to BSN Programs

Licensed vocational nurse (LVN) to Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs allow vocational nurses to work towards obtaining their four-year nursing degree which allows them to practice as registered nurses. These programs operate by giving credit for courses taken while the student pursued their LVN certification, and then providing the proper education needed to complete the bachelors degree. Students who complete the program can practice as a registered nurse (RN) and have the opportunity to pursue advanced nursing degrees in a variety of specialized fields. Another advantage to pursuing a BSN is the increase in salary. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median salary for a LVN was $39,030 in 2008 and the median salary for a registered nurse was $62,450 in 2008.
