Top Ten Engineering Colleges in the USA

Engineering is the course of study that prepares students to get things built. Engineers design everything from bridges to ways to keep trains running on time. The field includes such areas as chemical, civil, electrical, industrial, aerospace, biomedical, computer science, and mechanical engineering. "U.S. News and World Report" ranks the top engineering schools, as does College Crunch.
  1. Cooper Union

    • Cooper Union's Albert Nerken School of Engineering is the number-one-ranked engineering college according to collegecrunch.org. This college offers programs in civil, mechanical, chemical and electrical engineering. Its high ranking is largely based on its reputation with companies who hire engineers. The program only admits around 550 students at a time to keep the student-to-teacher ratio low. Cooper Union also offers an integrated master's program that allows students to simultaneously work on their bachelors' and masters' degrees, and earn both in as few as five years. In their final years of study, students work in state-of-the-art laboratories on projects that put their skills to the test in real-world situations.
