John Hopkins University is a prestigious university in Baltimore, Maryland. U.S. News & World Report listed JHU ranked as the fourth best nursing school in the United States in 2007. Among its other nursing programs, JHU offers a fully accredited RN to BSN (bachelor degree in nursing) bridge program for current RNs wishing to earn a bachelor degree in nursing. Class options include nursing trends and issues, nursing for adult physical health, public health nursing and foundations of nursing practice. JHU also provides the opportunity to take a test and skip some of the program core classes, if you exhibit the proper knowledge in a particular area. Oregon Health & Science University is located in Portland, Oregon, and was ranked seventh best nursing school in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. OHSU offers a fully-accredited RN to BSN program with two programs of study. If you graduated from a OCNE community college nursing program, you are only required to take the upper-level courses. If you graduated from a nursing program outside of Oregon, you will be required to take four transition classes before moving on to upper-level courses. Some of the upper-level classes you can expect to take include population-based care, epidemiology and leadership and outcomes management in nursing. Typically, it will take two years to complete this program. Graduates of this program will be awarded a bachelor degree in nursing.

The University of Illinois at Chicago is also one of the best nursing schools in the United States, according to "U.S. News." UIC offers a fully accredited 30 credit hour RN/BSN program that can be completed in a 16 months period. You may be required to take prerequisite courses that could extend the time it takes to finish the program. All of the courses are taught online and are eight weeks in length. Some of the classes you will take include health assessment, concepts and processes for contemporary nursing, nursing informatics and issues in nursing practice. Once you complete the program, you will earn a bachelor degree in nursing.
