Students must have an associate degree from a college in Florida or complete the 36 credit hours of general education courses required by UCF. Students will complete 51 credit hours in the core degree curriculum. Coursework includes nursing research, nursing care of adults and families, and public health, community and psychiatric mental health nursing. Students can complete the program online and some students may be able to transfer up to 28 credits from another institution.

    University of Phoenix

    • University of Phoenix is in Orlando, 22 miles from Kissimmee, and has an RN-to-BSN program, which is offered on two campuses. To be admitted to the program, students must have first earned an RN degree from an accredited school or nursing diploma from a hospital nursing school. Applicants must also have an RN license in the United States, be currently employed as a nurse or have access to a health care facility for nursing clinical practice, and have at least one year of work in experience in health care. Students in the program need to complete 120 credit hours to graduate. This includes 41 credit hours of core degree classes such as theories and models of nursing practice, health and chronic disease management, health assessment and promotion of vulnerable population, and global and public health epidemiology.

    Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences

    • Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences, 22 miles outside of Kissimmee in neighboring Orlando, has an online RN-to-BSN program. Students admitted to the program must have an active RN license. The school will accept 28 credit hours transferred from another school. The program includes 26 credit hours of general education courses and 37 credit hours of nursing classes, all completed online. The school works with Florida Hospital to complete clinical experience for its allied health programs. Students in the RN-to-BSN program will graduate in 18 to 24 months.
