Paramedic to RN Programs in Florida

Registered nurses in Florida are required to complete an approved program in nursing as well as pass a licensing examination that is known as the National Council Licensure Examination for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN). Paramedics who are interested in becoming a registered nurse can enroll in a paramedic to RN program that prepares them for the licensure examination.
  1. Florida State College

    • Florida State College has a registered nursing program that leads to an associate in science degree upon completion. This is a bridge program that is designed for paramedics and licensed practical nurses. Students must have at least 2,000 hours of work experience as a paramedic or LPN in the most recent three years. Courses include human anatomy and physiology, adult health nursing, human growth and development, role transformation and nursing care of the family.

    St. Petersburg College

    • St. Petersburg College offers an associate in science degree program in nursing specifically designed for paramedic students who are interested in becoming registered nurses. Students may enter into the program in August or January and may complete the program with day or evening classes. Required courses include psychosocial nursing, role transition in nursing, nursing care management and applications of pharmacology concepts in nursing therapy.

    Pensacola State College

    • Pensacola State College, formerly known as Pensacola Junior College, offers a paramedic to RN nursing program that is designed to be completed in three semesters. The program begins with the summer semester and students complete the program in the following spring semester. Upon completion of this program, students earn an associate of science degree. Course requirements include introduction to nursing, maternal and child nursing and adult health nursing I, II and III.

    Santa Fe College

    • Santa Fe College's bridge program is designed for paramedics to earn an associate of science degree in nursing to become a registered nurse. As a requirement, students must demonstrate the competency of basic skills within the first weeks of the introduction to nursing course to continue in the program. Required courses include introduction to nursing, bridge nursing process--introduction, and bridge nursing process I, II and III.
