Monroe Community College has an online paramedic program that was the first online refresher program in the world. The only attendance to the campus that is required in this program is the first class; the rest of the program is completed online, requiring no additional campus visits. Courses in this program include EMS first responder recertification, EMT basic core review, EMT critical care recertification and paramedic recertification.

Harrisburg Area Community College offers a paramedic program that is the first of its kind in Pennsylvania to be available online. This program offers students the option to pursue a certificate of completion or an associate degree. The certificate option takes three semesters to complete while the associate degree option takes six semesters. Required courses include life cycle development, principles of management, advanced life support and introduction to human illness and disease.

Northeastern University's College of Professional Studies offers an online blended program that is completed partially on campus and partially online and leads to a certificate of completion in paramedic technology. This advanced-level EMT program is available to all basic EMTs and takes six months to complete on a part-time schedule. Required courses include anatomy and physiology, emergency medical services, introduction to paramedic technology and a field internship that requires in-person attendance.

Northern Arizona University has an online degree completion program in paramedic care. This program is designed for students who have already earned an associate degree in paramedic care or paramedicine to complete a Bachelor of Science degree without having to leave their home communities. Required courses in this online program include applied ethics in health care, organization and administration of health services, special topics in health promotion and principles of epidemiology.
