Gulf Coast Community College is located in Panama City, Florida. Students can enroll in several different emergency medical technician programs, including a three-semester paramedic program which is offered once per year. Class times are Mondays from 1:30 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. and Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. In order to qualify for the program, applicants must apply to Gulf Coast Community College, have a high school diploma or GED, current EMT-Basic certification, pass a background check, have a valid Florida driver’s license and complete an interview with the program director. Upon acceptance, students must complete a physical exam. Students who successfully complete the required classroom and clinical learning can sit for the state exam to become registered EMT paramedics.

College of the Siskiyous is located in Weed, California. A two-year paramedic program is offered at Siskiyous, where students gain the skills required to provide immediate emergency care to patients. The certificate program consists of 40 units of classroom and field experience. Students interested in receiving an associate's degree in science and paramedic studies can complete a list of general credits on top of the paramedic courses. In order to qualify for the program, you must be 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, have malpractice insurance, pass a background check, obtain the required immunizations and have completed an EMT-Basic program with proof of certification. One to two years of EMT experience is strongly recommended, but not required. Completion of the program will allow you to sit for the state exam to become a registered paramedic. Students may apply for financial assistance and housing.

Stony Brook University is located in Stony Brook, New York. Along with classroom learning in subject areas such as legal issues and clinical decision making, students enrolled in SBU’s paramedic program must complete 696 hours of clinical experience at local hospitals. Acceptance into the program is contingent on requirements such as being 18 years of age, holding a high school diploma or GED, being an EMT or AEMT certified in New York, having EMS (emergency medical service) experience, completing a personal interview and passing a medical knowledge test. Housing and financial aid are available to students who qualify.
