The College's Associate Degree Nursing program prepares students to pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses in just two years. This two-year school draws a diverse student body from all around the East and North Texas regions. Located just over an hour away from Dallas and about four hours from Houston, the campus has a central location between the state's two largest cities. The college's transitional program allows LVNs to apply their education and experience toward an associate's degree in nursing after only two semesters. Interested LVNS must have completed six prerequisite courses to qualify for the program, which include general English, anatomy and psychology courses.

The largest school in the Dallas County Community College system, El Centro College is located in downtown Dallas, in the heart of the bustling city. Certified LVNs who have not previously enrolled in an associate's degree program can enroll in the LVN-to RN-transitional program. Acceptance into the program is stringent and requires a 2.5 GPA on pr-requisite courses (which include English, anatomy and psychology) and six months of verifiable employment as an LVN. Accepted students study for three semesters---two fall semesters and one spring semester---before graduating.
