Accredited Aviation Schools

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is the only accredited, aviation specific university in the world. There are, however, a number of accredited universities and colleges that offer aviation-related degrees. The following is by no means a comprehensive list; it is merely a selection of some of the many aviation programs in the U.S.
  1. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

    • Embry-Riddle is the only accredited, aviation specific university in the world. It offers classes in U.S., Canada, Europe and the Middle East through its worldwide campus, and it is the only U.S. school that offers aviation-related degree programs to service members overseas. It offers more than 30 undergraduate and graduate degree programs and owns a fleet of 93 aircraft.

    Florida Institute of Technology

    • Florida Tech offers seven undergraduate and four graduate aviation-related degrees through the College of Aeronautics. Flight training is conducted at Melbourne International Airport at F.I.T. Aviation, a wholly owned subsidiary of the school. More than 400 students are enrolled in the aviation programs.

    Purdue University

    • Purdue offers degree programs in aeronautical engineering technology, aviation management and professional flight technology. It also offers six minors: aircraft electronics and avionics technology, composite material technology, metallic material technology, aircraft reciprocating engine technology, aircraft turbine engine technology and aviation management. More than 700 students are enrolled in the aviation technology programs.

    Western Michigan University

    • The Western Michigan University College of Aviation offers degree programs in flight science, science and administration and maintenance technology. The school also offers an aeronautical engineering degree through the school of engineering. The College of Aviation has more than 700 undergraduate students. WMU is listed in the top 100 U.S. colleges and is one of only a few schools to have a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's most prestigious academic honor society.

    University of North Dakota

    • The School of Aerospace Science has seven aviation-related majors. The aviation and airport management majors are offered as a Bachelor of Business Administration through the College of Business Administration and Public Administration. The school also offers a Bachelor of Science in aeronautics, with a focus on commercial aviation, air traffic control, unmanned aircraft systems operations, flight education or aviation technology management.

    Daniel Webster College

    • Daniel Webster College was originally called the New England Aeronautical Institute. It now offers courses in business, management, computer sciences, engineering and the social sciences, in addition to aviation. Aviation-related degree programs include aviation flight operations, aviation management, air traffic management and aeronautical engineering.
