The University of Nebraska at Lincoln also offers an online master of science degree in the field of nutrition and health sciences. This program offers a specialization in dietetics and prepares students for the necessary requirements that need to be met en route to becoming a registered dietitian. The degree program is a 36-credit-hour program that is offered through an online consortium of colleges that includes not only the University of Nebraska, but other schools like Colorado State University, Oklahoma State University and Kansas State University. Students choose which program they want to apply to but can take courses from any of the participating colleges. Students take nine hours in core fields such as statistics, current trends in dietetics and research methods. The program offers either a nutrition track or a management track within the degree program. Students take six hours in these areas to fulfill the concentration requirements.

The University of Massachusetts offers a different online degree track in the field of nutrition. The school offers an online master of public health (M.P.H.) in nutrition. Whereas other nutrition degrees tend to focus on how to serve individual clients, the M.P.H. in nutrition is focused on serving the nutritional needs of various groups of people such as the elderly or the urban poor. The degree program requires 44 credit hours for completion; 15 of these are from core public health courses, and 17 are nutrition courses. The remaining credit hours consist of electives, a practicum and a capstone project.
