Medic to RN Programs

Paramedic to registered nurse (RN) bridge programs are designed to help current paramedics transition into the nursing field. Applicants will pursue an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in nursing. The programs give credit hours for some courses the paramedic completed during his training, and the classes are designed to build on concepts that the paramedic has experienced in his daily work. These programs also prepare students to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN), which must be passed to practice as an RN. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median hourly wage for paramedics in 2008 was $14.10, and the median salary for registered nurses in 2008 was $62,450.
