Clover Park Technical College is a public, two-year college in Lakewood, Washington. Established in 1942, the college was originally a war production school. Today, Clover Park features more than 50 certificate and associate degree programs in areas ranging from allied health to manufacturing and media. Students interested in upholstery training can matriculate into Clover Park's automotive upholstery and glass technician program. Upon completion of the five-quarter certificate program's curriculum requirements, graduates can upholster automotive interiors and replace damaged glass. Interior upholstering door and quarter panels, vinyl tops and interior upholstering bench beats are a few of the program's required courses.

Established in 1958, Catawaba Valley Community College is a public, two-year college in Hickory, North Carolina. The community college offers certificate, diploma and associate degree programs within its four schools and continuing education division. Housed within the school of business, industry and technology, Catawaba Valley hosts a certificate program in furniture upholstery. As part of the program's curriculum, students train in sewing machine operation and pattern design in preparation for careers as fabric cutters, upholsterers and as outsiders, in addition to an array of other career opportunities. Courses include cutting and pattern making, sewing and inside upholstery. Catawaba's furniture upholstery certificate program takes less than three semesters to complete.

Pueblo Community College is a publi,c two-year college in Pueblo, Colorado. Founded in 1933, the community college has an academic catalog of certificate and associate degree programs in arts and sciences, business, technology and health professions. Pueblo's automotive collision technology department hosts a certificate program in automotive customizing. The program's curriculum largely features upholstery-related courses like basic upholstery techniques and auto upholstery, in addition to courses like custom painting and automotive graphics. Pueblo also features an extracurricular club that sponsors automotive-related activities and competitions at the college.
