EMT Programs in Massachusetts

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) work in a fast-paced environment and are trained to provide emergency care by evaluating a patient's medical condition. After administering immediate medical care, EMTs may transport patients to a medical facility. Numerous EMT programs are offered in Massachusetts through community college programs, hospitals and private schools. Applicants must have a high school diploma and select an EMT program which is offered in three levels: EMT-basic, intermediate and paramedic.

Graduates of the program can take annual refresher courses. Students learn how to provide care to patients with injuries and how to assess a patient's health condition. They also administer cardiac, pulmonary and respiratory-related treatments using pulse oximetry and autotrack defibrillation.
