CNA Programs in Massachusetts

CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants) perform basic nursing functions at a variety of health care facilities but primarily in nursing homes, physicians' offices and hospitals. CNAs are also known as home health, nursing or geratric aides. Many CNA programs in Massachusetts can be found at technical and community colleges.     • North Shore Community College is a public institution located in Danvers. NSCC offers a fully accredited CNA certificate training program. This is a 100-hour program that includes classroom lectures and a clinical internship. The program can be completed in a matter of weeks. Graduates of this program are eligible for two certifications, CNA and home health aide.

    Bunker Hill Community College

    • Bunker Hill Community College is located in Charlestown, Massachusetts. BHCC is a two-year public school that offers a fully accredited patient care technician certificate program. This is a 26-credit program that leads to state certification as a nursing assistant and home health aide.     • The American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay offers CNA training its location in Cambridge. The Red Cross program takes 100 hours to complete and can generally be done in four to eight weeks. Students learn how to provide basic care for residents in nursing facilities as well as patients in hospitals and homes. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the state certification exam to become a certified nursing assistant.
