Electrical Lineman Schools in Georgia

Electrical utility companies hire lineworkers to install, maintain and repair overhead and underground electrical lines. Electrical lineworkers must be trained extensively before beginning work. Students take classes in basic electrical systems, transformers, grounding, rigging and career planning. In Georgia, two public and two private schools offer classes in electrical linework.
  1. Southeast Lineman Training Center

    • Southeast Lineman Training Center (SLTC) is a private school in Northwestern Georgia. SLTC trains only electrical utility workers. It trained its first class of 13 students in 2000. As of 2010, SLTC trained nearly 350 students each year. SLTC also offers its students a state-approved Commercial Driving License (CDL) training course because a CDL is required for lineworkers in the field. Financial aid and job placement services are available.
