Georgia Technical Engineering Schools

Georgia has a range of prominent technical colleges. The Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the largest in the United States and offers a broad spectrum of technical degree programs through its specialist schools. The University of Georgia and Georgia Southern University also offer students a wide choice of study options.
  1. University of Georgia: Engineering

    • The University of Georgia operates a Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering within its College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. It offers bachelor's of science degrees in agricultural engineering and biological engineering, each with diverse concentrations offered. The college has access to facilities spread across three University of Georgia campuses, including two dedicated research centers: the Georgia Experiment Station and the Coastal Plain Experiment Station. The college is located on the Athens campus.

School of Industrial and Systems Engineering

    • The School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, based at Georgia Institute of Technology, offers degrees with statistics, operations research, industrial engineering, algorithms, combinatorics and optimization. The school claims to be the largest industrial engineering program in the United States, with more than 1,000 undergraduate students. The school is associated with a number of research institutes, including the Asia-Pacific Logistics Institute and the the Supply Chain & Logistics Institute. The school is located on-campus in Atlanta, just off Interstate 75.

School of Electrical and Computer Engineering

    • Located on the main Georgia Institute of Technology campus in Atlanta, the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering also works closely with the institute's other campuses in southern Georgia and France, as well as separate universities in Germany and China. It claims to be the biggest single producer of electrical and computer engineers in the United States, and offers bachelor's of science programs in electrical engineering and computer engineering. The school's Opportunity Research Scholars Program matches students with Ph.D. mentors to complete projects.

    Georgia Southern University

    • Georgia Southern University, based in Statesboro, offers four-year undergraduate degree programs in engineering, covering mechanical and electrical studies. The mechanical engineering and electrical engineering degrees balance theory with practical application, and the courses in electrical engineering technology and mechanical engineering technology provide more vocational teaching. This prepares students for a move directly into a work environment. The programs are offered by the university's School of Science and Technology, and there are a number of scholarships available for potential students.
