The Georgia Institute of Technology, or Georgia Tech, College of Engineering hosts a number of smaller schools, among which are the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering. The University of Georgia and Armstrong Atlantic State College are multidisciplinary schools with engineering programs. Southern Polytechnic State University is a technical college with various engineering departments. Georgia Southern University offers a graduate program in applied science engineering.
US News and World Report ranked Georgia Tech the 4th best overall engineering school in the U.S. in 2010. It has programs in aerospace, biomedical, chemical and bimolecular, civil and environmental, electrical and computer, industrial and systems, materials science and mechanical engineering. Students are eligible to participate in dozens of research centers, labs and projects, including the Center for Compound Semiconductors and the Center for Biologically Inspired Design.
The University of Georgia School of Engineering program focuses on biological and agricultural engineering, while Southern Polytechnic State University has myriad programs, including those for computer engineering, electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering and industrial engineering.

Southern Polytechnic State awards bachelor and master of science degrees in various fields of engineering. Students at The University of Georgia will be able to earn bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees and complete certificate programs in areas such as engineering physics and coastal and marine engineering. Armstrong Atlantic offers a general undergraduate degree in engineering. Georgia Tech awards bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in dozens of fields of engineering and also awards certificates and an undergraduate minor.
Georgia Tech students are eligible for financial aid in the form of scholarships, grants, loans and student work programs. Financial aid awards are provided by the federal government, third-party foundations and the school itself. The University of Georgia offers scholarships and internship programs. The National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant is a federal award available to students in a number of scientific and mathematical fields, including engineering. Students studying engineering at public schools such as Armstrong Atlantic are eligible for funding through the Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally (HOPE) program, which is supported by the Georgia State Lottery.
