Brown University is home to one of the nation's oldest civil engineering departments. The undergraduate civil engineering program is divided in two tracks. Structural focuses on the design of structures and social mechanics while Environmental Problems and Planning specializes in the chemical and geological issues of environmental engineering.
Rutgers University's School of Civil and Environmental Engineering is the eighth oldest program in the country. In addition to offering a Bachelor of Science, or B.S., degree in civil engineering, the university offers a five year dual-degree civil and environmental program and a five-year B.S. and Master's of Arts in civil engineering program.
Kansas State University's Civil Engineering Department offers Bachelor's of Science, Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in civil engineering. The undergraduate program allows students to choose a broad or specialized curriculum. The General Option offers a broad curriculum with coursework related to transportation, structural, water resource, environmental and geotechnical engineering. Specialized undergraduate studies include Construction, Environmental and Structures options for engineering.
Illinois Institute of Technology offers an undergraduate civil engineering program that includes geotechnical, transportation and construction coursework, as well as a focus in architectural engineering. Graduate program specializations consist of structural, geotechnical and transportation engineering.
The University of Florida's Civil Engineering program consistently ranks as one of U.S. News and World Report's top 20 civil engineering schools. The program offers specializations in construction, geotechnical, public works, structural transportation system, water resources hydrology and coastal oceanographic engineering. Graduate programs consist of Master of Arts and doctorate degrees in civil engineering.
Georgia Tech University's School of Civil and Environmental Engineering is the second largest in the country. The undergraduate and graduate civil engineering programs were ranked third and fourth, respectively, by U.S. News and World Report in 2011. Georgia Tech University offers B.S. and Master's of Science degrees in civil engineering, and graduates of the program have the highest job placement rate in the university.
Cal State University, Los Angeles' Department of Engineering offers B.S. degrees in civil engineering with specializations in structural, hydraulic, water resource, transportation and environmental engineering. The department also offers a Master's of Science in civil engineering program, which focuses on design, industry analysis and education. Graduate classes are offered during daytime and evening hours to accommodate students who work full-time.
The Oregon State University School of Civil and Construction Engineering has an undergraduate program with concentrations in coastal and ocean, geomatics, structural, transportation and water resource engineering. The department also offers a Civil Engineering Cooperative Program that provides undergraduate students with a paid job in the industry while pursing their degree. Graduate programs include Master's of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in civil engineering.
