The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers seven programs in its graduate school. The Master of Science is a two-semester curriculum that requires a BS degree in engineering. Students may also opt to present a thesis. The graduate school also offers a Doctor of Philosophy degree, which requires study of coursework and independent research.
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in civil engineering, environmental engineering in civil engineering and environmental science in civil engineering. The M.S. degree can be done with or without a thesis. The department offers seven specialty areas. Since Fall 2011, an online degree is also offered in civil engineering.
The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers an M.S. and Ph.D. in civil engineering and has five concentration areas. The M.S. has the option of an added research component. Students completing their B.S. in engineering can enter the Ph.D. program directly or after completion of the M.S. The Ph.D. requires you to pass a qualifying examination and complete a dissertation.
The School of Civil Engineering offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in nine specialty areas. The Masters degree is designed so that students work with the faculty to develop a program of study that meets their professional goals. The Ph.D. degree focuses on more research work and is geared toward people interested in pursuing academic careers. The specialty groups allow more focus and expertise within civil engineering.
