Registered Nursing Technical Schools in Georgia

Registered nurses (RNs) can train in community colleges, universities, vocational schools and technical colleges. Georgia is home to a variety of technical colleges offering associate degree in nursing (ADN). Though the length of the programs vary, they all provide an education that qualifies graduates to sit for the state licensing exam.

Students receive instruction in adult health nursing, family nursing and advanced nursing. To be considered for admission to the program, students must have completed prerequisite classes, including psychology, mathematics, English and biology with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and pass the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS).

    Athens Technical College

    • Athens Technical College, located in Athens, offers a two-year program in registered nursing. Upon completion of the program graduates are awarded an ADN. Coursework includes instruction in anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, psychology, nutrition and the foundations of nursing. Students complete clinical rotations in hospitals, nursing homes and clinics. Clinical rotations allow students an opportunity to practice skills learned in the classroom. To be considered for admission to the program, students must have earned a high school diploma or GED, completed prerequisite classes with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and have current certification in CPR for the professional rescuer.

    Augusta Technical College

    • Located in Augusta, Augusta Technical College offers a two-year registered nursing program leading to the completion of an ADN. Coursework includes instruction in pediatric, adult and geriatric nursing. Students complete clinical rotations under the supervision of licensed nurses in hospice facilities, nursing homes, rehabilitative facilities, clinics and hospitals. To be considered for admission to the program, students must possess a high school diploma or GED and have completed general education requirements, totaling 58 credits.
