West Virginia University's Institute of Technology offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or BSN. Students can be admitted directly into WVU's Tech Department of Nursing after completing prerequisite courses at another accredited university, or they can complete the first two years of nursing study at Glenville State College and transfer as juniors to finish the bachelor degree. Students must take courses in pharmacology, child and adolescent health, and care for critically ill patients.
Texas Technical University's School of Nursing offers students three paths to becoming a nurse. First, they can enroll in the traditional BSN program. A second option is the Second Degree BSN, a program that allows nurses with a four-year degree in another field to earn a nursing degree. Since students already have an undergraduate degree, the second degree takes approximately one year and allows students to become entry-level nurses. The third option, Registered Nurse (RN)-to-BSN, is a web-based program for nurses with a two-year degree who seek advanced nursing positions. Students take courses online and complete clinical experience. Finally, Texas Tech offers a graduate degree in nursing for students who want to become nurse practitioners.
At Tennessee Tech University's School of Nursing, students spend their first two years completing general-education courses, including anatomy, sociology and nutrition. In the final two years, students complete clinical experience and such courses as Fundamentals of Nursing, Nursing Care of Children and Medical Surgical Nursing. Registered nurses with an associate's degree can complete their RN-to-BSN or a graduate degree in nursing.
Pennsylvania College of Technology offers four nursing degrees. For students who want to earn a nursing certificate and work under the direction of a licensed physician, the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN)-to-RN is a two-year degree program. The college also offers two bachelor programs and an associate degree in nursing (ADN), which provides students with the qualifications for entry-level nursing positions.
