Graduates of the LPN diploma program at Atlanta Technical College, which is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, will be able to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination. Classes include nutrition and diet therapy, introduction to health care, drug calculation and administration, nursing fundamentals and nursing leadership. Students also must take general education classes. This four-semester program takes about one year to complete.

DeKalb Technical College, a unit of the technical college system of Georgia, is just east of Atlanta in the suburb of Clarkston. DTC offers a 95-credit LPN program that takes one to two years to complete. In this diploma program, students learn concepts such as drug calculation and administration, nutrition and diet therapy, nursing fundamentals, nursing leadership, medical and surgical nursing and pediatric nursing. Graduates qualify to take state and national certification exams to become licensed practical nurses.

Chattahoochee Tech is a technical school with multiple campus locations in north Georgia. The Marietta location, just north of Atlanta, offers a fully accredited LPN program leading to a certificate of completion in nursing. This 97-credit hour program takes a year and a half to complete. Classes include obstetrical nursing, medical and surgical nursing, nursing fundamentals, introduction to microcomputers and nutrition and diet therapy. Students also must complete 26 hours of general education pre-requisite classes. Graduates can take the National Council Licensure Examination to become licensed practical nurses.
