The United Methodist Church founded Atlanta's Emory University in 1836, and since that time, the school has grown to an enrollment of more than 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students. For its 2011 college rankings, "U.S. News and World Report" ranked the college 20th in the United States among all universities. The college's Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing was founded in 1905 and offers a four-year standard Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The school also features an accelerated bachelor's program and a joint accelerated bachelor's and master's degree program for students who already have a baccalaureate degree in a field other than nursing. At the graduate level, the college offers Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degrees, a joint MSN and Master of Public Health degree and doctorate degrees in nursing. Approximately 60 percent of all students receive some form of financial aid while studying at Emory, according to the "2009 Barron's Profiles of American Colleges."
