    Emory University

    • Originally founded as Emory College in 1836 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, the Atlanta campus of Emory University was made possible through the philanthropic gifts of money and land by Asa Chandler, the founder of the Coca-Cola Co. The Atlanta campus was constructed in 1915. The fortunes of the university are tied to other Coca-Cola executives as well. Both Robert Woodruff and Robert Goizueta have been generous benefactors to Emory University. Closely tied as it is to Coca-Cola, it considered a cardinal, though completely unofficial, breach of school spirit to drink any other brand of soda on the campus.
