Good Georgia Colleges

Offering beautiful scenery, a rich history and many colleges, Georgia is a destination for many prospective college students. Searching for a school and applying can be a difficult and at times overwhelming process. With a little research, however, you can find the best schools in the state and narrow your application process accordingly.
  1. Emory University

    • Emory University is just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, and is ranked 20th on the "Best Colleges 2011 Report" by U.S. News and World Report. With an undergraduate population of about 7,300, Emory offers the small university feel and an acute focus on teaching. Emory also offers the Oxford College freshman and sophomore program, and is extremely well known for its research programs and facilities, especially in areas of health and medicine.

      Emory has a 30 percent acceptance rate. Applicants to Emory University generally score around 1,960 to 2,250 on the SAT and 30 to 33 on the ACT.

    Georgia Institute of Technology

    • The Georgia Institute of Technology, or Georgia Tech, is part of the public university system of Georgia. Georgia Tech is a larger school, with an undergraduate and graduate population of about 20,000. Commonly listed among U.S. News and World Report's top 10 public universities, Georgia Tech is a highly regarded school, especially its engineering programs.

      Applicants to Georgia Tech have, on average, between a 3.72 and 4.06 grade point average and score around 2,000 on the SAT or 30 on the ACT.

    University of Georgia

    • Located in Athens, Georgia, the University of Georgia is was founded in 1785 and is the oldest university in the state. The University of Georgia is a large university, with an undergraduate class of about 26,142. The University of Georgia offers over 22 baccalaureate degree, and is a NCAA Division I school with an exciting athletics program with an enthusiastic fan base.

      On average, applicants to the University of Georgia have a 3.8 grade point average, and a 1,263 (math and verbal) SAT score.

    Kennesaw State University

    • Located outside of Atlanta in Cobb County, Kennesaw State University offers students both beautiful scenery and the benefits of being close the state capital. Kennesaw is the third largest university in Georgia with an undergraduate class of about 21,000. The large size allows Kennesaw to offer around 40 undergraduate degree programs.

      On average, applicants to Kennesaw State University have a combined math and verbal SAT score around 1,100 and an overall grade point average around 3.16.
