The Community College of Denver offers a nursing program at their Lowry campus on the east side of the city. Among their four different tracks of study is an associate degree of nursing, which LPNs may enter during the second year of study. In order to be accepted into the second year of the program, LPNs must provide documentation for their previous post-secondary courses, both in nursing and in general education courses like English, anatomy and physiology. Accepted students begin the program with a transitional course that prepares them for the roles and responsibilities of an RN position. Clinical assignments are typically held two days a week and focus on a variety of areas such as pediatrics and obstetrics. Students must complete a total of 750 hours of clinical experiences during the program in order to graduate.
