In addition to comprehensive classroom instruction, students are required to work 32 hours a week in a dentist's office and see a minimum of 100 patients. The University of Bridgeport's Fones School of Dental Hygiene offers an accredited online bachelor's degree in dental hygiene. This program requires completion of 120 credit hours, and includes dental hygiene, general education and elective courses. Graduates of the program are eligible for national, regional and state licensing examinations. To qualify for this program, you must have an associate degree or certificate in dental hygiene.
