The American Dental Hygienists Association (ADHA) Institute for Oral Health sponsors a scholarship program for students enrolled in accredited dental hygiene programs across the United States. Applicants must be in at least their second year of study and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicants may be enrolled either full- or part-time, and must be active members of either the Student American Dental Hygienists' Association (SADHA) or the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA). Graduate students may also be considered if they possess a bachelor's degree and hold an active dental hygiene license. The $1,500 scholarship awards are granted on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.

The Hispanic Dental Association (HDA) administers three scholarship programs for Hispanic dental hygiene students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Colgate-Palmolive/HDA Foundation Scholarship is a $10,000 award that is presented to a graduate-level dental hygiene student, for the purpose of conducting clinical research related to the field. The Procter & Gamble Professional Oral Health/HDA Foundation Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship that is available to dental hygiene students who are just beginning their studies in the field. The Dr. Juan D. Villarreal/HDA Foundation Scholarship program provides awards ranging from $500 to $1,000 to undergraduate dental hygiene students in the state of Texas. Applicants for all awards must be current members of the HDA.

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) sponsors the ADEA/Crest Oral-B Scholarship for Dental Hygiene Students Pursuing Academic Careers program. The program provides scholarship awards of $2,000, and is open to outstanding dental hygiene students who have completed an associate degree program and are enrolled in an accredited bachelor's degree program at an ADEA-approved institution. Part-time and full-time students are eligible to apply. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement and their commitment to completing an undergraduate degree program in dental hygiene.
