Scholarships for Minority Women Studying Science

Science is one field where women and minorities have historically been significantly underrepresented. In an effort to correct this, a number of scholarship programs have been created to encourage more minority women to pursue scientific careers. These programs are designed to reward exceptional minority women students while also promoting diversity in science-related professions.
  1. AWG Minority Scholarship

    • The Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG) sponsors a scholarship program for minority women who are interested in careers in geoscience and related fields. Applicants must be women of African-American, Hispanic or Native American descent and be enrolled or planning to enroll full-time in an accredited undergraduate degree program relating to some aspect of the geosciences. Awards are granted in the amount of $6,000 per academic year, and scholarships are not automatically renewable.
