The West Virginia Rural Health Education Partnerships provide community-based training programs that help pay the education expenses for students who agree to practice in a rural area. The Health Sciences Scholarship Program offers a $20,000 award for fourth-year medical students or $10,000 to those in a their final year of a porgram to become a physician's assistant or nurse practioner. Recipients of the scholarship must agree to surve a minimum of two years in an underserved area of West Virginia. The Medical Student Loan Program is also part of the partnership and offers a $10,000 per year loan for medical students. The loan is forgiven at the same rate: $10,000 a year for every year the recipient practices in an underserved area after graduation.

Students from Alaska who plan to major in health sciences or a related field can apply for the Grace and Phil Edelman Health Sciences Scholarship. Recipients of the scholarship receive $5,000 and must maintain a 3.0 GPA for their scholarship to be renewed each year. Applicants must submit school transcripts, two recommendation forms, and an essay outlining their interest and goals in health sciences.

The Milwaukee Area Technical College offers the Oncology Alliance Health Science Scholarship. Students who have maintained a 2.5 GPA while enrolled in a health occupations program and demonstrate financial need are eligible to apply for the $1,000 scholarship.

The National Health Service Corps provides money for college tuition, fees, and a living stipend to students training to become physicians, nurses, dentists, or physician's assistants. Recipients must agree to serve in a NHSC Health Professional Shortage Area for two to four years upon graduation. Applicants can apply for the scholarship during their first year of school or after finishing a year or more of school. Students with financial need or who come from disadvantaged backgrounds are given priority for the scholarships. Approximately 200 scholarships are awarded each year.

The National Environmental Health Association in partnership with the American Academy of Sanitatrians offers a scholarship of $1,000 to undergraduate students in their junior or senior year of college or graduate students who are enrolled in a public health or environmental studies program. Applicants must submit academic transcripts, two faculty letters of recommendation, and a letter of recommendation from a current NEHA member.

Recipients of The F. Edward Herbert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship receive a full-tuition scholarship for any medical program along with a $1,992 monthly stipend. Many recipients also qualify to receive a $20,000 signing bonus. In return, recipients are obligated to serve one year of service as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army for every year the scholarship was received. There is a minimum two-year service requirement for medical students and a three-year service requirement for dental, psychology, optometry, and veterinary students.
