Scholarships for Preschool

If your child will soon enter preschool, it is likely you'll want to know more about options that will make your child's tuition more affordable. While most people associate scholarships with a college education, there are a number of scholarships you can apply for that will lower the cost of your little one's preschool education.
  1. Helen E. Risch Preschool Scholarship

    • The Helen E. Risch Scholarship Endowment Fund was created to promote early Jewish education for preschool-age children. The scholarship is designed to benefit preschool students in the Dallas metropolitan area. The fund was established on behalf of Risch, a former school psychologist and supporter of promoting values and characteristics important to Jewish people, and introducing these ideals to children at a young age. The scholarship is needs-based, and preschool administrators apply for the scholarship on behalf of families who would benefit significantly from the funds. According to the Dallas News, six Jewish preschools had students who received the scholarship for the 2009-2010 school year.

    Community Day Care Scholarships

    • The Community Day Care and Preschool offers preschool scholarships for children who would not otherwise be able to afford tuition. The scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and help provide a diverse learning environment for preschoolers by making a quality preschool education attainable. According to the family's income, a sliding fee scale will determine how the family can repay the funds used for the preschooler's education. The Community Day Care scholarship will allow young students to explore the areas of creative play with music and art, as well as engage in activities promoting cognitive development and fine motor skills.

    Friendly House Preschool Scholarship

    • Residents of Scott County, Iowa, may want to consider the Friendly House Preschool Scholarship to partially cover preschool tuition for students. Applicants must choose from a list of approved preschools in the area in order to benefit from the scholarship, and they will need to meet certain income requirements to receive funds. Families should generally generate an income of less than $64,000 a year (for a family of four) to be considered for the scholarship. Students between the ages of 3 and 5 are eligible for the Friendly House Preschool Scholarship, but priority will be given to 4- and 5-year-old students who have not yet attended preschool.
