Scholarships for Pregnant Girls

Pregnancy can sometimes put a damper on college plans. Many scholarships exclude pregnant applicants, and some scholarships will also be withdrawn if the student becomes pregnant. However, there are a variety of scholarships out there for pregnant females as well as for single moms or teen parents. It's just a matter of finding the right one.
  1. Birth Mother Scholarship Program

    • American Adoptions has a scholarship for pregnant mothers who are giving their child up for adoption. Every birth mother who goes through the process with American Adoptions is given a scholarship application, and the scholarship committee meets twice a year. The number of scholarships awarded and the amount depends on the number of applicants and the amount of the tuition. Each year, the deadline for the spring semester applications is April 1 and the fall semester deadline is Aug. 1.

Scholarship recipients are eligible for up to eight semesters, must maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average and submit a scholarship reapplication form before each semester.

Pregnant teens may also apply, and the scholarship is awarded after the child is born and the parent enrolls in a college or vocational school. The organization also offers the Elinor M. Knapp Scholarship for girls that is not exclusive to pregnant females, but does not exclude them either.

All applicants must have attended an Aurora Public school.
