Every year, the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) offers the Bourse Georgette Lemoyne Scholarship, given in honor of one of the first women in Canada to receive a degree in French. The $5,000 scholarship is awarded to Canadian-citizen women who are enrolled in a graduate French-study program.
Applicants can apply at the CFUW website and must provide three letters of recommendation, proof of enrollment and a letter of acceptance into a French program.
The Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation has offered the undergraduate scholarship since 1990. The scholarship is awarded to Canadian women who are in their first, second or third year of engineering study at an accredited institution. Applicants are judged on community and/or university involvement rather than grades. Five $5,000 scholarships are awarded annually..
Applications can be obtained from the CEMF website. Requirements include a list of activities, references, a letter of support, proof of citizenship, photograph, Power Point presentation based on the applicant's goals and interests and a voice sound clip explaining a passion for engineering. Documents should be hard copied and scanned to a CD or flash drive.
Every year, the Ninety-Nines organization offers the Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship. The organization dedicates itself to promoting female pilots worldwide. The scholarship is given to female Canadian licensed pilots to continue their studies in aviation and aerospace. Scholarship recipients receive up to $5,000 in pursuit of an associate's, bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree.
Applications are obtained from the Ninety-Nines website. Requirements include proof of enrollment, a minimum grade point average of 3.0, pilot experience, an essay on personal education goals and a letter of recommendation.
The World Bank Family Network has been offering the Margaret McNamara Memorial Grant Scholarship since 1981. The scholarship is awarded to female students who have a history of commitment to women and children in developing countries. Women must be at least 25 years of age, in financial need, a resident of the United States or Canada and enrolled in a college in either country. Each scholarship award is $12,000 and must be used toward the completion of a degree.
Applications can be obtained from the World Bank website. Requirements include two letters of recommendation, a copy of enrollment and course registration, an official transcript, a list of annual expenses, a resume and a photograph.
