The AARP Foundation Women's Scholarship Program provides education funding for women over forty who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited college, university or technical school in the U.S. Applicants must demonstrate financial and fall into one of three categories: women who are raising the children of other family members; women who have been out of the workforce for more than five years; or women who are employed in low-paying jobs with no access to benefits. The program provides awards ranging from $500 to $5,000 based on individual need.

The Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) Scholarship is available to nontraditional women students who have experienced social, physical or economic challenges, are responsible for the care of small children and have a demonstrated financial need. The program provides $2,500 scholarship awards to selected students who have clearly defined career objectives and are reentering an accredited degree program or enrolling for the first time.

The Jeanette Ranking Foundation sponsors scholarship awards for women over the age of thirty-five who are pursuing a vocational, associates or bachelors degree at an accredited college or university. The awards are granted primarily on the basis of financial need and applicants must meet income requirements as determined by household size. The number and amount of awards granted annually varies based on foundation funding and individual need.

The Possible Woman Foundation sponsors a scholarship program for adult women who are returning to college after overcoming personal obstacles or adversity. The program provides scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 for selected students who are enrolled at accredited colleges and universities and are unable to qualify for other types of financial aid or scholarships. Applicants must be at least age twenty-five or older and awards are granted on the basis of need, leadership, community service and career goals.

The Talbots Scholarship Foundation sponsors scholarship awards for women who are enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited degree program after an extended absence. Applicants must have obtained their GED or high school diploma at least ten years prior to applying and they must have at least two semesters left to complete their degree. The foundation sponsors ten $15,000 scholarships and one $30,000 scholarship annually.
