The Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship Fund provides annual scholarships to low-income women aged 35 years and older. Its mission is to help these women pursue technical or vocational training, associate's or first bachelor's degree to better themselves, their families and communities.

The Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation provides financial awards to low income women with minor children. These women can learn skills or pursue a degree or professional training. The Association on American Indian Affairs provides $750 per semester (as of 2010) for those with family responsibilities who might not otherwise be able to pursue their educations. Recipients may use funds for education and basic living expenses, childcare or transportation.

Emporia State University offers $2000 per year (as of 2010) for current students (single, widowed or divorced) who are raising children. They must have custody of their children and be enrolled for 12 credit hours as an undergraduate.
