Scholarships for Female Seniors

Although many scholarships are limited to students who have already completed at least a semester of college, a variety of scholarships are available to high school seniors. Scholarships for female high school seniors, specifically, are available from a variety of sources, including nationwide contests, non-profit organizations for women, and even private companies.
  1. Distinguished Young Women Scholarships

    • Distinguished Young Women (formerly America's Junior Miss) makes money available to female seniors in high school through its Scholarship Program. Distinguished Young Women Scholarships are awarded in varying amounts. The first place scholarship is in the amount of $40,000, the first runner up is awarded $25,000 for school, and the second runner up receives $15,000. DYW also awards a number of annual scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. Contestants are judged on the basis of academic achievement, talent, physical fitness, self-expression, and a personal interview.     P.E.O. STAR Scholarships

    • The organization P.E.O. International provides financial assistance to female high school seniors through its STAR Scholarship program. P.E.O. STAR Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $2,500. To be eligible, a student must be no older than 20 at the time of application, must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, and must be recommended by a P.E.O. chapter.     AXA Achievement Scholarships

    • The AXA Foundation makes scholarship money available to female high school seniors through its Achievement Scholarships. Each year, the AXA Foundation selects one high school senior from each U.S. state, as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and awards them a $10,000 scholarship for college. 10 finalists receive an additional scholarship of $15,000. Scholarship applicants are judged on the basis of their ambition and determination, their self-respect and respect for family and community, and their ability to succeed in college.     The Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program

    • The United States Department of Education makes scholarship money available to female high school seniors through the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program. The average amount of a Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship is $1,500. To be eligible, a student must be a U.S. citizen and a legal resident of the state in which she applies, must be a graduating high school senior, and must register with the Selective Service.
