LPN to RN Programs around Arlington, Texas

A licensed practical nurse (LPN) or licensed vocational nurse (LVN) to registered nurse (RN) program is an accelerated degree option that allows LPNs and LVNs to apply their current credentials to an associate of science degree credential in nursing. Graduates of these “bridge” programs are prepared to take the registered nursing examination administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). There is currently only one LPN/LVN to RN program in Arlington, Texas. However, there are also two programs in Dallas, which is a short distance from Arlington.
  1. Tarrant County College

    • Tarrant County College offers a “fast track option” within their two-year associate degree in nursing. It is designed for LPNs or certified paramedics who wish to upgrade their credentials. These students are eligible to take examinations that grant them credits in order to decrease the duration of their program of study from 24 to 15 months. Three courses can be attained through this method: nursing practice foundations, clinical foundations and nursing skills. Coursework is delivered online through video-conferencing and multimedia materials.

    El Centro College

    • El Centro College offers a LVN to RN “advanced placement” option within their associate of science degree in nursing program. In addition to holding a current vocational or practical nursing license, candidates must complete prerequisite coursework in anatomy and physiology, microbiology, English, algebra and psychology with a GPA of at least 2.5 or better in order to be considered for admission. This program is three semesters of specialized theoretical and practical instruction. Courses include transitioning from vocational to professional nursing, clinical nursing skills development, complex health needs, integrated client care and patient care management.

    Dallas Nursing Institute

    • The Dallas Nursing Institute is devoted solely to providing vocational and registered nurse training. This includes a LPN to RN “transition” method of attaining an associate degree in nursing. Candidates must hold a current license as a practical or vocational nurse in order to be considered for admission. Students complete general education coursework in English, critical thinking, psychology and biology alongside specialized nursing courses, including pharmacology, pathophysiology, mental health nursing, adult health nursing and clinical skills. Students may choose from a summer, winter or fall start dates.
