Located in Springfield is the Capitol Area School of Practical Nursing. The school offers a nine-month accelerated, full-time practical nursing program. Classes start twice per year, in February and August. Students who start in February graduate in December; those who start in August graduate the following summer. Classes meet Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Clinical rotations are in the afternoon and evening hours during the work week. Financial aid is available.

Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg offers a two-semester LPN program. Both day and evening classes are available. Clinical experiences are held at hospitals, community health organizations and nursing homes to give students a variety of clinical experiences. The LPN program starts twice a year, in January and August. Financial aid is available for qualified students.

The College of DuPage, located in Saint Charles, offers a 12-month LPN program. Classes are offered during the day, and clinical experiences are held at local hospitals, rehabilitation centers, clinics and nursing homes. Upon completion of the program, students have the option of continuing their education in the college's registered nurse (RN) program. Financial assistance is available for students who qualify.
