The Minority Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship Program, sponsored by Yale-New Haven Hospital, offers merit-based funding to graduating high school seniors who plan to pursue degrees in nursing or related fields. The program is open to residents of selected Connecticut counties. As of 2010, scholarship winners receive $2,000 per year for up to four years. Recipients have no commitment to Yale-New Haven Hospital after college.

The University of Tennessee's College of Nursing sponsors two endowed scholarship programs for African-American nursing students. The Baptist Health System of East Tennessee and Fields Family African-American Undergraduate Nursing Scholarship is available to qualified students, with preference for residents of Tennessee. The university offers the Dr. Barbara M. Reid Minority Nursing Fellowship to students enrolled in the master of science in nursing program.

The California Latino Medical Association and the Blue Cross of California Foundation sponsor the Hispanic Nursing Scholarship program for students enrolled in accredited California nursing programs at the bachelor's, master's or doctoral level. Applicants must be fluent in English and Spanish. Scholarship amounts vary based on program funding.

The National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurse Associations and Aetna sponsor a scholarship program for minority nursing students. To apply, you must be a member of an ethnic minority nursing association, such as the National Black Nurses Association, and be nominated by a member of your local chapter. Minority students enrolled in accredited bachelor's and master's degree programs can receive a $2,000 award, as of 2010.

The federal Indian Health Service sponsors a scholarship program for American Indian and Native Alaskan students pursuing degrees in health-related fields, including nursing. The program is open to students at the associate's, bachelor's and graduate levels. Some awards require recipients to fulfill a service component after graduation. The program provides money for tuition, books, fees and supplies, as well as a living stipend and travel expenses. The service determines award amounts on an individual basis. The scholarships are renewable for up to four years of study.
