Scholarships for Minority Non-Traditional Students

With the advent of several corporations, charitable organizations, non-profits and private donors, it's very easy to find ways to pay for college. Students from all walks of life are now attending colleges and universities and achieving goals that, at one time in history, would have seemed impossible. Listed below are a few scholarships available for undergraduate minorities.
  1. Ron Brown Scholarship

    • The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to recognize academic and civic excellence in the African-American community. To qualify for the program, a student must display leadership qualities, must excel academically, must give back to the community and must be financially needy. An award of $10,000 per year is given to ten students.

    Alfred Chisholm/BASF Memorial Scholarship Fund

    • The Alfred Chisholm/BASF Memorial Scholarship Fund is offered by the United Negro College Fund. To qualify, a student must be attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) and must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.7. The student must also be pursuing a degree in engineering or the sciences. The award amount is $5,000.

    Thurgood Marshall Scholarship

    • The Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund awards several scholarships each year to deserving minority students. To qualify, students must excel academically and demonstrate financial hardship. The average award amount is $2,200 per semester.

    Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholarship

    • The General Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholarship is offered to a deserving student of Latino heritage. To qualify, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.0, be planning on attending an accredited school full-time and pursuing their first undergraduate or graduate degree. The award amount is approximately $1,000-$5,000.
