Postgraduate Scholarships for Women

Postgraduate scholarships help students to pursue master's degrees, doctorates and career-related internships. There are a multitude of postgraduate scholarships that are available specifically to women. These scholarships are provided by professional organizations, private sources or government agencies. In addition to being open only to women, many of these scholarships have additional criteria for eligibility, including grade point average and field of study.
  1. AAUW Selected Professions Fellowships

    • The American Association of University Women awards funds to women undertaking post-graduate studies through Selected Professions Fellowships. These fellowships are available to women pursuing post-graduate degrees in a subject related to science and technology, such as engineering or mathematics. Although the amount of awards vary, in 2009-2010, the AAUW awarded 32 fellowships for a total of $350,000. Students must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States in order to be eligible.

    SWE Scholarships

    • The Society of Women Engineers offers several different scholarships for women pursuing post-graduate studies in engineering. One such scholarship is the Henry Luce Graduate Fellowship Scholarship, which is open to female engineering students with a GPA of at least 3.0, and is awarded in the amount 0f $10,000. Another is the Intel Scholarship, which is available to graduate engineering students with a minimum GPA of 3.5; it's awarded in increments of $1,000.

    EFWA Scholarships

    • The Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting awards a number of different scholarships to women pursuing postgraduate degrees in accounting. One is the American Society of Women Accountants Seattle Chapter Scholarship, which carries an award of up to $2,000; it's available to a female accounting student pursuing a degree in Washington State. Another is the Laurels Fund, which provides scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 for women pursuing a doctorate in accounting.
