Junior College Baseball Scholarships

If you are interested in playing baseball in college, but are not quite sure going to a four-year program is the right next step, then you should consider a junior college program. The NJCAA, otherwise known as the National Junior College Athletic Association, is allowed to award up to 24 full scholarships for Division I junior colleges and 24 scholarships for tuition and books for Division II programs. Ultimately it is up to each junior college to determine how many scholarships up to that amount they will award each year.

    • Located in Cuthbert, Georgia, Andrew College is part of both the NJCAA as well as the Georgia Junior College Athletic Association. The Fighting Tigers strive for their players to achieve both academic and on the field excellence. The boast a 100 percent graduation rate for their players in recent years and since 2006 the average GPA of the baseball team is 3.0. When it comes to moving baseball careers forward the Fighting Tigers of Andrew College have placed 35 players in a four-year Division I program and have had four players selected in the Major League Baseball draft. They offer scholarships through their athletic department. An application may also be filled out online.

    San Jacinto College

    • Located in Houston, Texas, San Jacinto College has a well-established Division I baseball program. The school is the winningest junior college program in the United States, boasting of five national titles and six runner-up finishes. When it comes to getting baseball players to the next level, they also have a phenomenal record with nine players being drafted for the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. San Jacinto alumni have won one American League Most Valuable Player and six Cy Young Awards. It offers a form on its website which you can fill out if you wish to speak with a member of the athletic department about being recruited.

    College of Southern Nevada

    • Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, the College of Southern Nevada offers another successful baseball program which had nine players drafted by the Major Leagues in the 2010 draft, including the first overall pick. A member of the Scenic West Athletic Conference, the Coyotes are well established, and were ranked second by the NJCAA in 2010. It also offers a form to be filled out by prospective players if you are interested in obtaining scholarship information.
