The Navy is a branch of the United States' military forces. It was founded on Oct. 13, 1775. The Navy's mission is "to maintain, train and equip combat-ready naval forces capable of winning wars, deterring aggression and maintaining freedom of the seas."
The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps is a scholarship program that allows recipients to have the four-year college experience while receiving training toward a career in the Navy. The benefits include a partial- to full-tuition waiver, a stipend for textbooks, and a monthly allowance for each academic month. The NROTC program is available at more than 160 colleges and universities.
The Navy College Program is available primarily to enlisted sailors. The NCP's mission is to "enable sailors to obtain a college degree while on active duty." Sailors earn academic credit through training, work experience and off-duty education.
Tuition Assistance is a Navy program for those on active duty that provides funding toward tuition and courses taken during off-duty status. TA can be used at any accredited college, university or vocational/technical school.
