The Olene S. Walker Transition to Adult Living Scholarship awards up to $5,000 per year to be used for college tuition, books, supplies and living expenses. Recipients also receive the opportunity to work with a mentor. The Walker Transition scholarship is awarded to individuals under the age of 26 who are in the process of transitioning out of the Utah State Foster Care system and into a post-secondary education program at Utah schools including the University of Utah, Salt Lake City Community College, Utah Valley University, and Ogden Weber ATC. Applications are available online.
Higher Ed Utah's website states that the New Century Scholarship "encourages students to accelerate their education by earning an associate's degree in high school from an institution within the Utah System of Higher Education." Acceptable institutions include any four-year college or university in the Utah System of Higher Education, as well as Brigham Young University and Westminster College. Eligible students must receive their associate's degree on or before their high school graduation and must graduate from a Utah high school with at least a 3.5 grade point average or a composite ACT score of at least 26. The New Century Scholarship award pays partial tuition costs.
According to the Higher Ed Utah's website, the Regents' Scholarship "encourages Utah high school students to prepare for college academically and financially by taking a core course of study and saving for college." The Regents' Scholarship pays for up to 70 percent of the recipient's annual college tuition. Scholarship recipients must be enrolled for at least 12 credits at either a public college or university in the Utah System of Higher Education, Brigham Young University, LDS Business College or Westminster College.
The Centennial Scholarship for Early Graduation pays up to $1,000 toward tuition at selected Utah post-secondary schools. The Utah State Office of Education states that to qualify, Utah high school students must "graduate early from a Utah secondary institution, enroll within one calendar year in an eligible Utah post-secondary institution," and "must begin using funds as a full-time student and for tuition only within a calendar year of high school graduation." Acceptable post-secondary schools include Brigham Young University, College of Eastern Utah, Dixie State College, LDS Business College, Salt Lake Community College, Snow College, Southern Utah University, University of Utah, Utah State University, Utah Valley State College, Weber State University and Westminster College.
