Scholarships for Women in Film

In a 2008 study performed by San Diego State University, tt was discovered that women only make up 9 percent of Hollywood's directors. For any gender, a career in film is a difficult field to break into, but for women, becoming a household name is even more difficult. In 2010, Kathryn Bigelow became a household name because of her Academy Award win as Best Director for "The Hurt Locker." With the hope that women who are involved in films are on their way to being recognized for their work, and with an increasing interest by women to enter into film production, scholarships that allow women to go to film school also have increased.
