Scholarships for Texas Students

Earning a college degree can be challenging enough, and many students face additional obstacles when it comes to meeting the increasing costs of higher education. Scholarship programs are a valuable resource for many students. Many states, including Texas, offer scholarships designed specifically for residents who plan to complete their education in-state.
  1. YouthLaunch Scholarship for Outstanding Service

    • The YouthLaunch Scholarship for Outstanding Service is a $3,000 award available to graduating Texas high school seniors who demonstrate strong leadership skills and service to their community. Applicants must be planning to enroll in an accredited college or university within one year of graduating from high school and have completed a minimum of 100 hours of community service following their graduation. Service hours must be spent on activities that address important social issues and have a direct impact on the community. Scholarship awards are nonrenewable.

    Texas Association of Broadcasters Scholarships

    • The Texas Association of Broadcasters (TAB) provides scholarships to outstanding undergraduates who are pursuing degrees in broadcasting, communications and related fields at accredited Texas colleges and universities. Applicants must be a current student member of TAB, be attending a member school and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Awards are available to all undergraduates enrolled full time at both two- and four-year Texas schools, and selected students will receive a one-time award of $2,000.

    Top 10% Scholarship Program

    • The Top 10% Scholarship Program provides up to $2,000 to Texas students who rank in the top 10 percent of their graduating class and have a demonstrated financial need. Applicants must graduate from an accredited Texas high school and be planning to enroll full time in a two- or four-year program of study in-state. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years of study, and recipients must complete at least 30 credit hours per year and maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA to be eligible.

    Kenneth H. Ashworth Fellowship

    • The Kenneth H. Ashworth Fellowship is available to Texas residents with a demonstrated financial need who plan to pursue graduate study in public affairs, public service or public administration at an accredited college or university in-state. Applicants must be registered for the Selective Service or be exempt from registration and plan to work in the state of Texas after completing their degree. Selected students will receive a one-time award of $2,000.

    Texas Armed Services Scholarship

    • The Texas Armed Services Scholarship provides up to $10,000 in education funding per year for Texas residents who participate in their high school's Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program. Freshmen applicants must demonstrate academic achievement, be an ROTC member in good standing and agree to serve as a member of the Texas Army or Air Force National Guard for a period of four years after completing their degree. Scholarships may be renewed for up to four years of study pending the recipient's satisfactory academic progress and continued participation in the ROTC.
