The Beinecke Scholarship is available to students who plan to pursue graduate study at the master's or doctoral level in the arts, humanities and social sciences. To apply, you must be a college junior enrolled at a school and be nominated by a faculty member. Selected students will receive $4,000 upon entering graduate school and an additional $30,000 over the duration of their studies. Scholarships may be used at accredited schools in the U.S. or abroad and all funds must be used within five years of completing an undergraduate degree.

The Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program provides education funding to students who are entering their first year of a doctoral program or a terminal master's degree program in the arts, humanities or social sciences. To apply, you must be accepted or currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program and be a U.S. citizen. Fellows receive both education assistance and a living stipend for up to four years of study and in 2010, fellows received a tuition award of $13,755 and a stipend of $30,000.

The Council of Independent Colleges American Graduate Fellowship Program provides education funding for outstanding doctoral students who are completing their degree at selected colleges and universities in the U.S., Great Britain and Ireland. To apply, you must be planning to pursue a degree in an approved field of study, including history, philosophy, literature, languages or fine arts. Fellows will receive up to $50,000 and awards may be renewed for a second year of study pending the recipient's satisfactory academic progress.

The Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship Program provides three years of education funding to students who are pursuing a Ph.D. or Doctor of Science degree. To apply, you must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a research-based doctoral program at an accredited U.S. college or university and have a career interest in research or teaching at the university level. The program is open to senior undergraduates, students currently enrolled in a master's degree program or doctoral students who have at least three years of study remaining. Fellows will receive both tuition support and an annual stipend of $20,000.
